London, home of menswear competition: only a few days left to enter!
It was a delight to return from my travels in the exotic East recently and discover this great campaign doing the rounds. Sponsored by Mayor Boris in the run up to LC:M last week it recognises the growth in the British menswear industry (“predicted to overtake womenswear sales by 2016″) and its contribution to the overall economy.
I wouldn’t normally promote competitions here but this one feels exceptional: including images shot by our friend Jonathan Daniel-Price (of GarconJon and 100 Days 100 Beards fame) featuring most-photographed-man-at-LCM ever, Mr Daniel Kennedy. The judging panel and prizes are pretty exceptional too. But be quick about it, you only have until this Friday to enter.
1st prize – a made-to-measure 3 piece suit from E-Tautz
2nd prize – a pair of shoes from Mr. Hare
3rd prize – a Christopher Raeburn tartan mutt
Runners up – 5 x pairs of tickets to see Hello My Name is Paul Smith at the Design Museum
The competition rules are as follows:
Londoners can enter the London, home of menswear competition via Facebook or Twitter using #londonmenswear. You need to tell us why your London postcode (using the first part of your postcode) is the most stylish, whether it’s N1, SE10, E17 or even W9. It could be a person or a place and the best entries will be chosen by a panel of style gurus that includes designer Patrick Grant (E Tautz and Norton & Son) and Dylan Jones (GQ editor and Chair London Collections: Men).
The competition closes this Friday, 17 January 2014. More details can be found at www.london.gov.uk/home-of-menswear.
